When Will Seraiki Cultural Day be Celebrated at The Official level?
Punjabi and Seraiki are one of the most widely spoken languages in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Apart from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also have a large number of Seraiki-speaking families. On the contrary, two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, have 70% Seraiki speakers. In addition, there are 24 districts in Punjab where Seraiki speakers are in the majority. These include Multan, Jhang, Okara, Lodhran, Khushab, Bhakkar, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Pakpattan, Chiniot and Mianwali, the home region of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Are
The long-standing demand of these Seraiki speakers is a separate province, so that their frustrations can be alleviated and the struggle for this has been going on for a long time. Although not intense, because the people of the Seraiki region are pacifists and farmers, simplicity is their nature. They quietly watch their rights being eaten by others and then resume their work with the same hard work and dedication.
These Seraiki speakers include people of every caste, community, nation and have always been grateful to each other. Mutual riots are far away but they have always supported each other, whether they are Pathans, Balochs, Juts, Rajputs, Gujars or belong to any community, they have never been targeted on this basis. On the contrary, they all become one in speaking Seraiki and being called Seraiki. And if they are not one, then they are not one to demand their rights. This is their weakness and this is the reason for their deprivation.
In 2012, the Pakistan People's Party passed a resolution to create a new province at the national and provincial levels, with the support of the Pakistan Muslim League. But in the 2013 elections, the PPP managed to win only one seat in the National Assembly from the Seraiki areas, which halted the process of becoming a province.
Then the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) promised to make the Seraikis a new province and that too within 100 days of the coming of the government, which was welcomed by the Seraiki nation and in the 2018 elections, the PTI Win 30 seats and this will be the reason for their majority in Punjab.
So far, the PTI has set up a secretariat for the districts of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur. The first 100 days have passed and now it is almost three years, but the dream of becoming a province has not yet been realized.
The government celebrated Baloch Culture Day on March 2 at the official level, but will March 6, which has been celebrated as Seraiki Culture Day for almost a century, be announced at the official level? ?
Despite the fact that the number of Seraikis in the province is around 40 million, including the Baloch, they include the Chief Minister himself and several cabinet members. So will Seraiki Culture Day also be celebrated at the official level for the promotion of Seraiki culture or will only congratulations be given on social media?
